ST Electronics Dinner & Dance 19Nov10

After working for 3 months plus, I'm so lucky to have the chance to participate in ST Dinner & Dance event last Friday. This is my first time and I'm going to enjoy every moment of it. This was what I thought before the event actually started but things just went way out of hand.

Two of my colleagues were drunk and having some after-effects from drinking. It was deadly and scary. Never in my life that it occur to me that people around me would get drunk and do all sorts of funny things. Dancing, shouting, screaming, kicking, slamming the table, losing tempers and many more. One very ridiculous action that I can recall is that the both of them all say they wanted to take photos with the ST President (super daring). Crazy isn't it? Of course, after the event, they couldn't remember a thing at all.

The only tedious thing of the event was going home. The event ended at around 1130pm and for your info, the ballroom was located at the EXPO. How am I going to go back to Bukit Panjang by MRT? I'll probably stopped somewhere in the middle of Singapore and got to catch a cab home from there. Therefore, straight cabbing from EXPO is the best choice. I shared a cab with a colleague of planning (splitting the cost as midnight charges were expensive) at 12am sharp (I seriously think that all cabys ignore our existence till 12am just to get the extra midnight charges). It costs $41.90 to get the both of us home (WHAT!!). Tired, exhausted and annoyed was what I felt at the end of the day.

There were still some good things to mention despite of all those unfortunate happenings. The food served were delicious especially the dessert, Yam Paste. That's my favourite! Love it! Its not very sweet and I really wanted to eat up the whole pot. Other dishes were good as well. Next to have my thumbs up was the highlights shows of the event. Regardless its the Lady Gaga Impersonation Show, STE Line Dance or the games, all were interesting and fulfilling. Love them!

But I wonder if I would get excited for the next Dinner & Dance session in ST again. Perhaps, perhaps not (because of the drunk incident).

Reaching early from office and found some interesting stalls set up for us

photo taking with ZongHong and my supervisor TingYi

While waiting for the D&D to start
The tix and Masquerade Mask (decorated with the feathers and beads by myself)

One of the boomz show of the event: Lady Gaga Impersonation Show
Real interesting and SHIOK!

Balloon game and another boomz show put up by a transsexual guy/girl
apparently those yellow jokes of him caught everyone's attention, especially the guys

Can you recognize who is drunk and who is not?

Magic show and Line Dance by our fellow colleagues
Line dance was a real surprise as I didn't expect the outcome would be that beautiful

正华魅力夫人比赛

my happening mum took part in 正华魅力夫人比赛
held on 21 Nov 2010 and came in 3rd!
She also won the prize for best hairstyle and costume!
大丰收! (LOL)

CONGRATULATIONS!

My mum has been taking part in singing competitions
but this was her first time participating in a "选美比赛"
Dress alone cost $240+, peacock hair piece $40,
not forgetting setting hair and make-up on actual day which cost around $60.
But I guess for the experience, it's all worth it no matter if she wins anything...

cos you only live once.

PS: WAH SIAN. I'm already 20+ yet I've done nothing BOOMZ enough to reminisce when I'm old! CUI.

Horsey Office Warming and Halloween 30Oct10

It's been a while since Horsey's Office Warming took place. Emm.. My words for Horsey: CONGRATS on moving on to a bigger and new office! Hope BIG MONEY will come knocking on your door from now on. JIA YOU!

A lot of Horsey's and Fang's came (but to them, the amount was considered little) and had buffet lunch and tea break which made our stomachs burst (having the mindset of not wanting the whole chunk of leftovers going to waste). The fried bee hoon, curry potatoes and yam paste were my favourite so I tried to finish whatever is on my plate even though I'm bloated already. It's a pity Weili couldn't join us (assignments and exams refraining her from coming), she did missed out a lot of fun there.

Halloween happens to be on the same day so fang suggested that we can go to Escape Theme Park for a Halloween night. I thought it was fresh and exciting so I went with the plan. Apparently, a lot of us thought so too. And there we are, together with our Halloween pros, at Escape. It's a first time for me, and I believe a first time for the others too. Eye Opener is the word I use to describe the event. Super exciting and the best part was seeing all those Halloween mascots come alive, walking on the streets in Escape. They really look scary, and scary to the extent that people would get frightened by them and screamed...

One interesting part was, I remembered Ym raising both hands on going to the haunted house but she was like screaming throughout the whole "haunted house" journey. Concepts at the beginning and at the end was totally different. I've got to know a new Ym that day. LOL!

Another highlight of the event was that a lot of commoners (like us) were dressed up specially for the Halloween event. It's really a spectacular view that day and you can't really guess which of which were the crews of the event. For your info: there's a best costume prize in the event. That explains why everyone is so "overly dressed".

The only wrong event of the day was probably queuing for the Go-Kart. To estimate, the guys had queued 2hrs plus (girls joined in after an hour) for a 5min Go-Kart ride. The management seriously had to take the necessary measures to address the problem. As what you've guessed, we spent most of our time queuing for the ride and missed out all the other fun stuffs that were happening in the Theme Park.

Misses for the day was the Mascot Parade outside Escape and the photo taking shot with the handsome vampire MC. It's really a pity to miss out these two (Ym sharing the same sentiments as me).

人生不仅仅是为了自己

We always have to ask ourselves, what have we contributed and not what can we get

People live not only for themselves, a lot of them live for others. If everybody are so selfish to only live for themselves, life would be boring.

人本來就寂寞的

我寂寞寂寞就好
這時候誰都別來安慰 擁抱
就讓我一個人去痛到受不了
想到 快瘋掉 死不了就還好

time for kbox! :D

别因贪图方便而造成别人的负担

Stand in other people's shoes
Don't build your happiness on other people's misery

The most frequent example that we see in our everyday life is littering. Just because of our laziness and wanted more convenience for ourselves, we create more work for the cleaners. People always think that it's the cleaner's job to keep the environment clean but they are WRONG! The cleaners are to beautify the environment, not to pick up litters which was left by us. So, we should never cause any inconvenience to others' and create more burden to them.

借口听起来总是特别刺耳

Setting and amending the rules ourselves is a way of finding an excuse for ourselves

People might think that finding an excuse for them to not embarrass themselves is no big deal. But they are wrong! Nobody would appreciate them if they continue to have this kind of attitude.

吸烟有害健康

Have a healthy environment, don't let your family take in second hand smoke

Smoking only brings harm to our body. Regardless its first hand or second hand smoke, it'll only deteriorate our health. So, for the sake of our family and ourselves, smoke addicts should quit smoking.

欲望要适可而止

We feel pain when we can't get what we wanted, but all these exist because we are greedy

Being greedy is the real poorness, whereas being contented is the real wealth. To have fantasies is good as it represents that we have aims and dreams. But getting over greedy can easily make people lose their directions. Moreover, fantasies and money are connected together. By then, there will never be a time where we get contented.
