NDP 2011 - 9Aug11

It's really been very long since I went to watch NDP live, and I mean it. It's so long till I can't remember the number of times that I applied for the NDP tickets and the rejected feeling of not receiving any calls or messages to inform me of the good news of my balloting results.

Lucky me this year, we got the tickets (ch ballot for his whole family and his cousin was the lucky one). Yeah! Finally, we're going for the NDP this year. I figured out the things to do during NDP. Putting on NDP tattoos, singing aloud of Singapore songs, shouting and cheering throughout, waving the Singapore flag (provided in the goodie bag) and waving the lightsticks when the night dawns etc. And I did all that. I'm so so happy and proud to be a Singaporean.

Getting into the Floating Platform premises at Marina Bay
Lots of people walking in red and white
Great sportsmanship and Singaporean Lovers!
We were very excited but the weather was pretty hot and sunny that day
We sweated and got kind of shag even before the show started

Although the NDP environment was hot and humid, but that doesn't spoil our mood at all

Saw the tattoo on my left cheek?
I kept taking pictures of myself as I got nothing else to do except to wait

the NDP finally started
Can you see the Singapore Lions having their parachute jump?
It's so cool!

Singapore displaying our armed forces and equipment we have to defense our country
I love this section very much as I'm very impressed by all these

President SR Nathan's last year of attending the NDP as a president
Uniform groups are my favorite too :)
Friends who knows me well would know that I have a special liking for men's uniform groups
The army, the commanders, the police etc
Oh my! They are really suave

Interesting and fun performance put up
I love the sea theme where there are real bubbles everywhere around us, making the theme more believable and real

Having our last photo to end the NDP 2011

We enjoyed ourselves a lot and would definitely wanted to go for all the NDP in the subsequent years (provided we could get the ballot tickets).
Cheers and HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINGAPORE!
(although it's a very belated blessing)

Night Safari - 30Jul11

This fine evening, I made my way to the Night Safari for the first time in my life. I bought the discounted tickets at half the original price, $16 at Deal.com.sg. Wow! I did saved quite a lot.

Yue Mei bought the tickets too as she wanted to come with Weimin (their first visits too). So, the four of us (Yue Mei, Weimin, Ch and me) went together. Ha! Sounds like a double couple date. Due to not being able to forecast any huge crowd at the Night Safari, which is a grave mistake but also a pleasant-surprise mistake at the same time. We waited for 30min for the tram as there were simply too many tourists (the grave mistake) but I felt good, like a real tourist (pleasant-surprise mistake). Ha! Contradicting!

To summarize on the whole trip, it was exciting in the first hour but it soon became tiring and exhausting and hungry as we kept walking. Some of the animals were asleep while some just turned their backs on us. It was also very dark and we could hardly see some of the animals.

Night Safari experience: To visit once in a lifetime till any new or interesting animals were being brought in.

Before heading for Night Safari, ch and I dropped by Clementi Mall
Here's Baskin Robbins, my favorite ice cream shop :)
Isn't the Clown Ice Cream cute?
I saw some young girls buying it and got so tempted and told the shop assistant that I wanted the same ice cream as them. OMG! Thick skin! Trying to act cute at such an age.
Ch also trying to act cute with the Clown Ice Cream (the truth is, I forced him to take that picture)

Met up with Yue Mei and Weimin outside the Night Safari
See, we were so happy and excited when we were going in

the waited 30min tram ride
Sweating and Shag

Fire performance and some animals shots

Weili, can you see this?
OMG! Don't scold me. Seriously, there's nothing to be afraid of just by looking at the picture.

Snap shots here and there
Too dark

There's a Z bar cafe with all the zebra chairs
So cute~
Free hugs anyone by the *****

Souvenir shop with lots of cute and cuddly soft toys (but they were too expensive)

Rachel Liang Soulmate Mini Concert - 9Jul11

Just right after I got back from my genting trip last month, I went for this F.O.C (ch got the free tickets when he bought Casio watch for me) mini concert by Rachel Liang. She came promoting her latest album Soulmate and frankly speaking, before I went for the concert, I never heard of her new songs at all.

Very relieved, I love the new songs that she sang that day (FYI, she did not sing all new songs). Her voice was really special as it kind of felt warmth. Songs like 情人知己, 一百万种亲吻, 受不了 etc are really nice. It was in our playlist some weeks back ago if you noticed it :)

It was held at St James Power Station
Cool location and my first time there :)

She's pretty small size but has a powerful voice
Cute too~

We went Vivocity after the concert and had GONG tea with fruit tart

Came across this super cute window decoration of Ted Baker

Next day - 10Jul11
We went for Japanese buffet again~
Tarafuku by Tampopo company
Rating: so-so

Bitter face after the 'normal' taste Japanese Buffet

LCG Railway Walk 17Jul11

Have you ever heard of the rail train that travels from Singapore to Malaysia? Recently, the railway track was about to be demolished and trains were no longer in use. These attracted a huge number of people, including my friends and myself to experience the track walk this fine Sunday morning.

I must say, it really is a once in a lifetime opportunity but, do we have to force ourselves to wake up so early in the morning at 6am to prepare? I slept late on Saturday night as usual and of course, it's a struggle for me to get up that early the next day. Nevertheless, I convinced myself that it's a rare and golden opportunity not to be miss, hanging out with my LCG gang so I manage to meet them on time. Ha!

We had breakfast at the Bukit Timah market before heading to the Rail Mall for our start off

Leaving our footprints on the tracks

I LOVE GROUP PHOTOS!!

Exhausted and tired as we just kept walking as if it's a never ending route

Tingyi's Birthday Celebration 16Jul11

After seeing each other 5 days in a week, we still met up on a Saturday. Can you guess who are the people whom I met up? Yes! They are my colleagues in STE. Ha! This day, we decided to celebrate our supervisor's birthday which is on 9Jul11. He decided to go to a restaurant located around the Bukit Timah Turf Club.

It's really really really super costly. Ha! Although the atmosphere was real good, but I still don't think that it's worth the price. Food were ok, not fantastic too. After the lunch, we went to Serene Centre for some Island Creamery Ice Cream. I guess I was the only one excited about desserts. I ordered 5 scoops of ice cream and a mud pie but, I was the only one who kept eating. All the guys seems to be more attracted to their iPhones.

Well, I swear I will not suggest for ice cream with them again, NEVER! Ha! Do I sound serious here? Maybe a bit. You know, its very wasteful when u let the ice cream go melting and you can't finish it up in time and all by yourself. It's also frustrating when you know eating all that by yourself makes you grow fat. Ok, enough of all that. I did took some interesting and nice photos thou.

The restaurant that offers super expensive menu was call Picotin
It's a high class chill out venue with lots of "Ang Mohs" hanging around, but too bad they were all married with kids. Ha!

The atmosphere was good
Easy Breezy tone

Here's my supervisor, Tingyi on the right, wearing blue strip polo tee
We were celebrating his birthday
OS: He's the one who suggested the restaurant (RICH KID!)

Food which we ordered
Looks quite appetizing

I forced them to take a photo with their food, and which they did
Ha!
From top left: the toilet entrance, Tingyi & Nicholas
From bottom left: Me, the toilet signs & ZongHong

Real horse spotted, passing by us while we were eating
There were bunnies too and it stinks. Ha!

Spotted a Mummy Cat with her 3 kittens somewhere around the corner
2 of the kittens were resting in a big flower pot!
Tingyi played with them, letting us taking some very good pictures
Aww~ They are so cute!

The ice cream that I mentioned which I ate most of it by myself
-_-
I love the soursop flavor best!

Genting with Fang & Gang 6-8Jul11

Did I ever mention that I only spent $3 for staying at First World Hotel and $60 for taking the Five Star Deluxe Coach Bus up to Genting? OMG! It's such a super cheap deal! Thanks to Fang for purchasing a whole lot of vouchers from deal.com.sg and finding such a great bus deal along. Surprisingly, it seems like couple dates with ages ranging from young to old.

When was the last time I went Genting? A few years back I guess as I couldn't really remember it. Some of the things changes there while some of it remains. It was a pretty tight schedule when we were rushing for last min shopping but 3 days was definitely enough. We did had fun, relaxing and enjoying ourselves to the limit.

OS: I visited the Casino for the first time in my life and saw how money goes and comes easily within a few seconds. Also, Chee Hong vomitted when he was taking the coach bus to and fro from Genting. That's twice in 3 days! Ha! Now he doesn't dare to laugh at me when I say I got a headache anymore.

After his 1st vomit, he still bought a Ribbena to drink?
Emm.. No comments!

We visited the mushroom farm just some short distance from Genting
Nothing much to see actually

But the food were delicious and cheap!
LOVE IT!
I will definitely visit it again next time

Posting with the scenery and items around the farm
We was overwhelmed by the mini flower patch just outside the farm

My favorite ice cream in Korea, Baskin Robbins
Oh man! It's real sinful!

We had delicious and sumptuous dim sum breakfast on the 2nd Day

Look at those overwhelming variety of dim sum
Tell me who doesn't loves dim sum?

Outdoor theme park after the breakfast

We got attracted by the soft toys that were hanging by the stalls
I think I can really hear them calling me to bring them home
Look! RongPo got Rachel a bunny soft toy by fishing the rubber ducks

Was taking pictures all around
Look at the giant toy bear sitting beside the young boy!
His father actually won that for him!
Gosh! Do you know how hard is it to get that?
You have to hook the glass bottles 4 times by throwing circles to win that big grand prize

My favorite sweet potato stall was still there, outside the theme park
How nice to have a hot roasted sweet potato when the weather is so cold!

We had pizza for late lunch as it was very cheap

Waiting for RongPo, Rachel, Crab and bf to finish the Superman ride
I really love back view pictures
Don't you think that they tell a story?

While waiting, took mischievous photos with ch

I took photos of RongPo and Rachel too
can you see some fishy story going on? Oops!

Finally, it's their turn to take the Superman ride
Fang and me went for Bumble rides instead
I must say, it's the best ride of the theme park
We totally LOVE IT!

Slow and easy ride in the indoor theme park
Its states that its a family ride
LOL!

Last day in Genting
Our gang went separate ways
Fang, Horsey, Ch and me together (we had a combined room)
We had marrybrown breakfast which was of normal standard

This game was a pleasant surprise of the trip
RongPo and us spotted it when we saw some girls playing
The Ultimate Stress Over Game
How to Play: to bang on the board hard and flip it hard when the time is going to run out
VERY interesting!
But painful at the same time. LOL!

Starbucks in Genting to indulge ourselves
We definitely are enjoying ourselves a lot :)

Group photo at the coach rest stop "Yong Ping"

I really love going overseas with friends to relax and pamper myself
I was definitely looking forward to the next trip (",)
