Valentine's Day with dada - 13Feb11

It's been long since the two of us spend some romantic time together and celebrate Valentine's Day. The surprise that I got from him when I opened his van's back door to put my stuffs when he came to fetch me: A popular Japanese Rabbit soft toy that I pester him to buy for me (obvious hint to him that I want that rabbit and told him we saw the stall at Vivo City, LOL!) and a V. Day Card. I was really surprised and happy at that instant. I LOVE THE PRESENTS! Thanks dada!

I made reservations at a super romantic restaurant but to be exact, it's actually a florist. Pocket Full of Posies is the restaurant's name. I think it's main focus was initially on flowers but expanded out to a flowers-cum-restaurant concept. Thumbs Up! I LOVE THE CONCEPT!

The interior decoration was fantastic (which was the main reason why I made reservations on the day Fang introduce it to me)! Take a look at the pictures and you will know why. There's rocking chairs tied by thick ropes and you'll be surrounded by flowers. OMG! There's also live band if you're lucky enough to catch it but only at certain timings.

The food there was not bad, not awful but also not super delicious but overall, I think that it's worth the price with that kind of environment. I have to add on, despite of all those praises that I have mention about the restaurant till now, the only flaw lies with the lady boss of the restaurant.

First of all, she's under dressed. With such a strong restaurant theme, she wore polo tee and jeans. I can't seem to understand why other employees could wear the restaurant shirt but she doesn't. You might say, "because she's the boss!". In that case, shouldn't she be just sitting around to collect money? But I saw her doing all the chores in the restaurant: arranging reservations; taking orders; coordinating with the kitchen; sorting the flowers; and collecting money. I have no comments on the hard work she put in but letting customers see her in such a dress down mode all the time, it just doesn't fit the restaurant's theme.

Secondly, her attitude towards customers wasn't that friendly. She kept on reminding us that we only had an hour to dine (there's reservations after us) so we had to order fast. She's like standing beside us staring at us till we order our food. I was just hoping that she would give us 2-3 more minutes to have a better look (although we each had something we wanted to order in mind). She just kept reminding us that we only had an hour to dine (because of the special seats).

Lady boss: "You only have an hour for this reservation because there's another group of people coming at 7pm so you have to order faster." (In a not so polite speaking tone)
If she could rephrase it to
"Excuse me. Due to other reservations after yours, there's very limited timing for your dining. So would you mind to have your orders as soon as possible to avoid any disappointment? Thanks! Please inform any of our staffs or me if you are ready with your orders."

I would definitely feel very pleased with this kind of service.

Anyway, that's not going to spoil our day. We still took some photos and had our fill. I gave him my D.I.Y. card too which I spent my whole Friday night finishing it up. Thanks dada, for all the effort you put in and I will give you a bigger present on our anniversary next month.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!

got free Cornetto Ice Cream! Happy :)

Settling down for a rest after walking for a long time

Here's the restaurant that I've been talking about

We're seated next to the live band area and the flowers section
LOVE IT!

The prices of the food were affordable and taste not bad

Bangkok Trip Day 5

Day 5 - Thursday 13Jan11
Day 5 was the last day of our BKK trip. We headed to Platinum Mall for last min shopping, this time round with the guys. Like what I mentioned before, WE LOVE PLATINUM MALL!!

All the guys (except Henry who chose to wear couple tee with FangQi) wore the same tee which they bought some time earlier at MBK and I think it looks pretty good on all of them (looks like a pop band and definitely not a foursome gay).

Had Ice Monster dessert after shopping and it's really a surprise. There's very different and unique flavors such as brownie and cookies & cream flavor which is surprisingly delicious.

One thing that upset us on that day was the awful traffic jam everywhere. You see, Bangkok had this real poor traffic management. There's two-way traffic with a total of 6 lanes but there were no middle lines to split it to a fair two-way lanes with 3 lanes each. In the end, the reason to cause the traffic jam was just simply because the opposite traffic occupied 4 lanes leaving our side with only 2 lanes and the worst is that 1 lane was taken up by parking cars. What the... Curse and Swear! On our way from our hotel to the airport was also a traffic disaster. Traveling time was more than an hour and everyone dozed off in the maxi cab.

After the tiring cab trip to the airport, while waiting for our turn at the immigration, some unnecessary trouble surfaced up too. We split up to queue and Fang's queue was the first so we all joined her (group check in). The lady behind her suddenly threw her temper and started to raised her unhappiness saying that we were cutting queue. Fang explained to her that we were having group check in but she's still unhappy and gave us the stupid FACE. Eventually, she changed queue to the next line but.. Our group check in queue was even faster than a two-man checked in (got large objects to check in resulting in adjusting here and there). I know it's bad of me to say that but I'll say "Serve you right for making those comments on us when we didn't even offend you." We were not cutting queue, we were just disperse out to queue for the earliest queue for our group check in.

Because of the traffic jam, we lost our dinner time and had to gobble our burgers from Burger King like we were wolves. Felt sad when we had to leave BKK holiday trip but at the same time happy that we're heading our home sweet home.

Dramatic -_-

Bangkok Trip Day 4

Day 4 – Wednesday, 12Jan2011
Day 4 was a sight-seeing day for us. After breakfast, we took Tu-tu rides to the riverside for the Chao Phrya River Express Boat Ride. I must say, I was really impressed by Fang’s bargaining skills. She helped us bargain from 500 Baht to 250 Baht each. I can still remember her firm expression when she told the women "No! 200 Baht". Although eventually we gave way to 250 Baht but we still saved a lot.

Our boat looks kind of unstable but still, we had some fun experience avoiding the river water (ym even took out her umbrella to shield) and feeding the river fishes. We boarded on shore after the ride and went to the temples around. Ym, Fang and FangQi tried out the Thailand costumes and took pictures with the temple background. KAWAII~

The temple’s steps were very steep but we managed to climbed to the top (apparently people who went there could all climbed up). When I came down from the steps, I had a acquaintance encounter with a Thailand lady. I helped her to take a photo and we began our conversation. It’s so amazing! She was a Thai but went to Singapore to work as a hair stylist for some time (which proves why her English was quite well spoken for a Thai). Ok, I’ll save the details for myself. The reason behind all those encounters I had? Maybe that’s because I look more friendly and harmless. Ha!

Everyone was so tired and exhausted after the sight-seeing and could only drag our feet to walk. We took cabs to find a place for dinner and were recommended a seafood restaurant by the cab driver. I could still remember the entertainment during our cab rides through walkie talkies. Ha! Ym (from another cab) sang a Thai song through the talkie to our cab driver. LOL!

In the end, we found that the seafood restaurant is not to our liking and therefore we changed location to MBK. We took the sky train (a.k.a. S'pore MRT system) to MBK and it’s really quite a hassle as we got to change trains for just a super short distance. We had pizza for dinner and it’s really delicious. I like the pizza best although baked rice were unique.

We did some shopping after then and head back the Hotel ourselves (guys and girls split). We concluded that Platinum was a better shopping place for us as in MBK, only NaRaYa could attract our attention.

Our last night in Bangkok, had to be our drinking session in our hotel rooms. But before that, we went for massage at the hotel. Weili had foot massage; Ym had Thai massage; FangQi, Henry, Fang, Horsey, Ch and me had Oil Massage. It’s really relaxing after a whole trip of tiredness (I even dozed off while the massage was on-going halfway and woke up after having some shock).

We gathered at Rong Po & Kevin’s room after the massage and played games to finish up the beer and alcohol we bought. Weili was the most unlucky one but she managed to push away some of the alcohol by drinking slowly. Ha! In the end, Kevin drank the most as he got better alcohol limit. I can still remember Horsey’s bunny ears hoping to and fro, Ym and Ch’s SORRY SORRY dance. It’s crazy! Last night in Bangkok, that’s about it!

on our way in the tu-tu
